Facebook Banned In Pakistan
Officials in Pakistan are ordering Internet service providers to block Facebook because of a page that urged users to post pictures of the prophet Muhammad. If you don’t know, publishing pictures of Muhammad is strictly prohibited in Islamic countries. Facebook had a decent user-base in Pakistan, but it’s gone now. I guess free speech is a thing of the past, huh?
Pakistan isn’t blocking Facebook permanently, but that doesn’t make it any less ridiculous that they banned an entire social network because of a single page.
Internet service providers are getting lots of complaints from people who just want their daily dose of Facebook.
Pakistan, listen up. You cannot openly limit the free speech of your citizens because of one thoughtless fan page on Facebook. It just isn’t right.
