Apple Cracking Down On Widget/Desktop iPad Apps

by Brad MerrillJune 2, 2010

As you know, Apple tends to veto a lot of apps for a growing number of reasons, the latest being “apps that create their own desktops.”

Apparently developers were expanding the UI too much, and things started to shift off of the Apple grid.  The photo frame app, MyFrame, was rejected because it was too desktop-y, probably because of the sticky note and the way it lets you view social media.

So apparently Apple doesn’t want apps with widgets or anything of that nature, which, in my opinion, is bad because this device would be a perfect home for widgets.  Of course, there’s always the possibility that Apple themselves may be launching a widget platform for the iPad, and they just want to monopolize the market for that sort of thing.
