TasteKid is a discovery engine that provides instant recommendations for new music, movies, shows, books and authors based on your existing preferences.  It’s a cool concept, but I was skeptical at first about how well it would work.  Then I gave it a try, and it blew me away.  I input a few movies that I have seen and liked, and it output a bunch of movie titles, most of which I have also seen, and enjoyed.  This proves just how accurate this thing is.  

The site is very easy to use.  You can choose a specific media type to enter, or enter a mixture, and it will return a mixture of recommendations.  The recommendations are always scary-accurate.

You have the option of registering with TasteKid to make recommendations even more accurate and accustomed to you.  You can “Like” or “Dislike” items you come across on the site, and that helps the system get to know you better so it can offer better, more suitable recommendations.  You can also use Facebook Connect to login to the site.

TasteKid also offers a Facebook app, a Twitter game, a Google gadget, and an iPhone app.

Normally, when I profile a startup that has a lot of potential, I say it could be a hit.  This time, I’m gonna boldly say that TasteKid will be a hit.  It is already headed in that direction.
