Are We Overly Dependant On Mobile Applications?

Technology has become a large part of nearly everyone’s life, and fast and convenient information is always available at our fingertips. However, psychologists are warning people about developing an over-reliance on tablet and mobile applications.

“It’s a general phenomenon that we’re relying more and more on technology, and when that technology’s not available, we don’t use the skills we would have otherwise developed,” Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists chairman Daniel Varghese said. “That can certainly cause anxiety in people.”

With Google’s growing Android Market and Apple’s enormous iOS App Store, consumers are incorporating mobile apps into every aspect of their lives. “There needs to be an awareness that it’s not always going to be there,” he said.
