Samsung Launches Wallet App For Android

by Brad MerrillFebruary 27, 2013

During its Developer Day at the Mobile World Congress, Samsung has unveiled its Wallet app for Android.

Like Apple’s Passbook, Wallet will allow users to keep all of their coupons, tickets, and membership cards in one place.

This kinds of service needs good partners, and Samsung certainly does. Among them are Hotels.com, Lufthansa, Expedia, Walgreens, Belly, Major League Baseball Advanced Media, and Booking.com.

Partners will use the Wallet API to provide real-time updates on membership card points, changes to boarding passes, and location-based push notifications.

The API is currently in beta and available only to select partners, but it will open to the public this May.
