Wake is a beautiful alarm app for iPhone

I’m a heavy sleeper, and waking up early in the morning is probably the hardest task of my day. I usually set multiple alarms to make sure I wake up on time. Lately, I’ve been looking at Wake Alarm for iPhone, and it is amazing.

The app’s most notable attribute is how stunning it looks on your screen. It has a really simple UI, but one that’s been crafted to perfection. A single circular clock-face sits upon a gorgeous gradient background and shows you the current time. Rotating the dial changes the clock to alarm mode, where you can set the time you want the alarm to go off. Tapping on the hour count skips the dial by hours, and tapping on the minute count skips the dial by minutes. As you tap the little checkmark to save your alarm, the clock-face transitions away towards the top. Pulling downwards reveals all the alarms currently set, both active and inactive. Swiping from left to right on the clock-face toggles between night mode and normal mode, which is very helpful for leaving your phone on the nightstand while you sleep. Swiping the other way opens the app’s settings.

Wake also comes with three different alarm styles—Slaf & Flip, Shake, and Swipe. Slap & Flip lets you snooze the alarm by covering the phone’s screen with the palm of your hand and turn it off by flipping it over. Shake is for heavy sleepers like myself, where you have to vigorously shake the phone to turn it off. Swipe involved swiping down on the screen to snooze and up to turn the alarm off.

Wake is a gorgeous alarm app. With its amazing gesture-based UI and its brilliant little sounds to enhance the terrible experience of waking up in the morning, it’s well worth its price of $1.99 in the App Store.
