I’m So Disgusted By Gawker
It’s no secret that Gawker and its contributors are, for the most part, condescending sacks of shit—but this just pushes it over the top.
On Tuesday, Gawker looked back to March for a piece about news anchor Shepard Smith, and how he supposedly yelled at a waitress at a bar in Chelsea.
The story might have been funny if it ran, I don’t know, the day after the incident—but eight months later? Who cares?
If you keep reading, though, the hidden agenda of the post emerges when the writer, J.K. Trotter, suggests that Smith’s date that evening was a man. I’m sure his expectation was that, as soon as he published the piece, it would be talked about incessantly and picked up by every news outlet in the world, resulting in a ton of clicks and traffic for Gawker.
Except that didn’t happen.
I’m pleased to say that, following the post’s publication, there was nothing but crickets (aside from a piece on Slate questioning why Gawker cares).
It’s cheap, lazy, and disgusting, much like J.K. Trotter, Brian Moylan, and doubtless many others at Gawker.
