As Facebook continues to increase its focus on video content, the company has announced that it will start displaying view counts that show how many times a particular video has been seen—a feature expected to reach users this week and coupled with news that we’ll soon see more auto-playing videos in the News Feed.
The social network says that video views on Facebook grew by more than 50% between May and July this year, with more than 65% of that content consumed on mobile devices.
To keep up that growth, Facebook is testing a new feature on mobile that serves up “related” videos when a user has finished viewing a video—much like YouTube.
Facebook’s auto-play feature is available to all users, although they have the option to switch it off inside the settings menu on their phone.
