This Wearable Drone Launches Off Your Wrist To Take Selfies For You

Meet Nixie, the world’s first wearable selfie drone. Yes, you read that right. It’s a wearable camera that flies off your wrist to take your picture from the air, so you don’t have to take a selfie. It’s a strange device no one has ever asked for, but I kinda want one.

Sadly, it’s still in its early, conceptual stages. They seem to have a working prototype that can launch off your wrist and float away, but there’s still a long way to do.

The good news, however, is that it’s a finalist in Intel’s Make It Wearable competition—which means they’ve secured $50,000 along with mentorship and technical support from Intel—so it might just become a reality.

Nixie is built by Christoph Kohstall (a Stanford physics researcher) and team members Jelena Jovanovic and Michael Niedermayr.
