London Fashion-Tech startup wins a place on the Publicis90 Startup Initiative
London fashion-tech startup, See Fashion, has won funding from the world’s third largest advertising group, Publicis Groupe.
See Fashion was selected out of 3,555 applicants to receive financing and mentorship from the Publicis90 Global Startup Initiative. The initiative, which was set up to celebrate Publicis’ 90th anniversary, will invest up to £10 million in See Fashion and 89 other startups in the tech and digital space.
The British tech startup was announced as a Publicis90 finalist at the inaugural Viva Technology conference in Paris. The 3-day event saw See Fashion collect their award in front of the world’s leading tech companies, including Google, Amazon, Facebook and Airbnb.
See Fashion will be using the support from Publicis to develop its online pre-order platform. The platform, which was founded by Aaron Jones BEM, helps young designers validate, manufacture and wholesale their best designs. Designers showcase their ideas to a community of fashion fans who then endorse their favourite designs by pre-ordering and social sharing. Once the designer reaches their minimum order quantity, See Fashion supports or manages the designer’s products. The best-selling products are then pushed to retailers like John Lewis who are looking for the best undiscovered talent, without the financial risk.
The design validation platform has already started building relationships with fashion schools and students nationwide. Many of whom have entered into the See Fashion Design Challenge, which awards the winning designer £2,000 to manufacture, pitch and sell their best clothing or accessory designs. Since the launch of the competition, See Fashion has received 42,000 website visits, 142 design submissions from 90 designers and over 4000 consumer sign ups within the last 30 days.
Aaron Jones BEM, CEO of See Fashion says, “It is such an honour to be validated by a leading communications group like Publicis, especially since we share a similar mission – to help young entrepreneurs realise their dreams. Through the Publicis90 Initiative we can create a new era of fashion production were young designers have the tools to grow and shape the future of fashion.”
Ivana Ojukwu, COO of See Fashion says, “Publicis90 demonstrates the importance of assisting emerging creatives in their journey as they will be the ones building the world of tomorrow. At See Fashion, we strive to help young fashion graduates so that they can become the designers they want to be. I look forward to the work that can be done with Publicis in encouraging young UK creatives in setting up their businesses. ”
